Churu, a zine devoted to CalArts' cafeteria, Steve's Cafe, is a satirical yet heartfelt ode to food and its significance in our lives. Having grown up in a household where food was deeply ingrained in our cultural identity, transitioning from home-cooked meals to solely dining at the campus cafeteria was a drastic change that significantly impacted my physical and mental health, and my gut microbiome.

Being relegated to eating at the campus cafeteria for most of my time in college inspired me to grieve the loss of food, not just for eating—but for feeling. I then led this project to crowd-source photos and reviews of memorable meals, wrote sonnets, and guides, all culminating in the creation of a zine dedicated to the infamous Steve's.
