IDENTITY, ART DIRECTION, TYPOGRAPHY
In collaboration with the 2023 LA REEF Artist in Residence, Rosa Evangelina Beltrán, I art directed and crafted the visual identity for the exhibition LA CONVENTA:The Next Day There is More/Less Grief, featuring textiles,
film,
painting, sculpture, photography, and group performances including RESTA/ora, a song cycle based on Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz's La Respuesta. This project explored identity, gender-based and inter-generational violence, and communities of care, aiming to make grief, vulnerability, and joy visible, audible, and tangible. I designed visual elements that embodied the key themes of the project through a considered type palette, show programs, posters, and in-gallery graphics.
